Mike Grass for DCist takes off on Metro's confusing station names:

WMATA doesn't seem to have much of strategy as to the naming of its stations, where community and tourist-industry giddiness to get their interest plastered on a station sign can outweigh common sense and clarity.

Good on ya, Mike. If Metro had simply named the Blue/Yellow Line station that serves DCA "Airport," the board wouldn't have gotten into that pissing contest with Republican buttinskis about renaming the station when the airport was renamed. Of course, there would be some confusion when the "Silver Line" is built out to IAD, but that won't be until long after 2011, by the current schedule.
