A rocky start to the performance tonight. In scene 1, we got to the point where Lee says, "You always work by candlelight?" and we both looked up and the candle wasn't lit. So I pulled out the book of matches I use in scene 8, dropping my pencil in the process, and I lit it, while Andy/Lee just leaned back and watched. It turned into a nice little moment.

But I was so busy thinking about how to get the pencil and doing a mental post mortem of the candle bit that I was slow picking up cues for the rest of the scene. So I became aware of fluffing cues, and I became aware that I was throwing Andy's rhythm off, and I had a microscopic moment of panic.

The good thing about short scenes is you get a chance to regain your focus every 10 minutes.

We got it pulled together for the second act, and the audience stayed with us, and we executed the act pretty cleanly.
