Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.
An interesting little puzzle:
Petals Around the Rose. Don't be surprised when you're not surprised by
the solution. It took me more than two dozen rolls to find it.

William Crawford and Peter Brewin, graduate students at the Royal College of
Art in London, have patented
"shelter in a sack:" a concrete building for emergency situations that
is more durable than a tent, and cheaper and easier to deploy than a
conventional portable building. Just add water and inflate.
The pair spent a month meeting U.N. agencies and nongovernmental
organizations, visiting refugee camps and demonstrating the prototype
shelter. The response has been positive.
"If this was available now, we would buy 10 today," said Monica
Castellarnau, program head for Médicins Sans Frontières in Uganda.
