pedantic nuthatch
Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.

A few surprises, if not much in the way of new birds today, a couple of Common Moorhens (Gallinula chloropus) at Jennette's Sedge in Buxton Woods being the big surprise. Most of today's stories will have to wait until I can upload photographs, and Leta gets an exclusive on one of the stories.

Very windy today, with gusts pushing 30mph and sand blowing across State Route 12. Some white knuckles as I drove across the long Bonner Bridge across Oregon Inlet into a nasty headwind. As I trudged up to the observation tower at Pea Island's North Pond with my scope lashed to my back, the breeze whipping around me, it struck me that sitting in a recliner playing Grand Theft Auto was a much less demanding way to spend one's spare time. Of course, then I wouldn't have seen the otter dash across the dike I'd just walked and slide into the North Pond.
