pedantic nuthatch
Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.

I got the vehicle spruced up, I got nearly everything on my to-do list either checked off or moved into the do-it-later category, I got the piles of paper stacked away in cubbies on my desk—because, damn, I'm doing a show!

We had our first read-through of True West this evening. John is the director: I've done several shows with him and I trust him implicitly. Bridget is assisting him. Andy will play my brother Lee: I've seen his work and he's no slouch. Shelley will play our Mom: she is new to us. And Stan will play the producer Saul Kimmer: I vaguely remember him from a one-act that John directed last summer.

I had a little trouble navigating the warren of backstage areas at the Stage. It's been newly rehabbed, with an elevator for wheelchair access, and there are now walls where there were doors and doors where there were walls.

My only worry about this play is the combat choreography. Bridget is going to contact a guy she used for her last play, someone who was trained by the Noble Blades.

Oh, and I've got some subscription ticket exchanging to do for April, because John does want to rehearse on Wednesdays.

See ya at the Salvation Army thrift store! I'm shopping for toasters!
