pedantic nuthatch
Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.

I just got in this evening. Virginia Power was working on the transformers in the neighborhood today, so the house was without power for about three hours. So I ran around teaching all the devices in my house what time it is all over again and fantasizing about a diesel generator.

Leta and I saw the Washington Capitals game last night. They beat the Panthers 3-0, but it was a closer game than that. It was 1-0 going into the last five minutes when Florida just ran out of gas. It was a quick game, with only two penalties, and I had the feeling that Washington was coasting into the playoffs, not really intent on catching Tampa Bay for the third seeding in the conference. But it's always good to see Kolzig get a shutout.

I was struck by the sound of the puck smacking against the boards, of sticks cracking together—sharp sounds that just don't make it down the pipe of by TV coverage.
