Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.
We generally think of the promotion of shade-grown coffee as a New World issue. Dr. Anand Titus and Geeta N. Pereira provide an economic and biological perspective from India on coffee cultivation. There, the threat seems to be not conversion of traditional plantations to technified sun coffee but rather loss of the land to cultivation altogether.
The husband and wife team have contributed many more articles on coffee agriculture, with a unique emphasis on the microbiology of the farm.

DC Blogs points to John's DC Birding Blog. John is a new
blogger, and a relatively new birder. He specializes in sites accessible by
public transportation in D.C. (yes, there are some very good ones, like the
Arboretum and the Aquatic Gardens) and in returning to the same patch
regularly, which means that you can follow the trend of the seasons. And
his butterfly list is more extensive than mine.
