Life in a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, D.C. B.M.A.T.C., and Etruscan typewriter erasers. Blogged by David Gorsline.
We have 9 of 16 nexst boxes occupied. This is about twice the number that we had last year. Seven of the boxes have wood ducks, and two have hooded mergansers.
The merganser nests should be hatching and fledging this week.
Recent arrivals and visitors at the park: Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis), Tree Swallow (Tachycineta bicolor), Greater Yellowlegs (Tringa melanoleuca), and American Bittern (Botaurus lentiginosus).
