Well, now the hard work begins. We blocked through scene 7 for the first time tonight. This is the scene where Austin gets drunk on Lee's whiskey and annoys him while he's trying to type-write his Texas script.
There are two kinds of actors in the world: those who like playing drunk scenes and think that it's easy, and those who do not. I am not of the first kind. I cannot find the right line between silly-stupid-too-much drunk and not-enough-that-it-reads drunk.
The scene ends with the story about the brother's father and his false teeth. It's a good story, but right now it's just a shapeless lump.
I need to decide how I really feel about my father (at least in the course of the monologue). Why does Austin choose this story to tell to Lee (other than the fact that he knows Lee doesn't know it)? Is Austin a disappointment to his father? What happened on Austin's trip that he doesn't relate?
