Another successful bioblitz, this time to a new property in Rappahannock County. Someone spotted a (ordinarily nocturnal) Tetracha virginica in the parking lot just as we were getting organized, adding to my super-short list of tiger beetles observed. I got a lucky look at a Swarthy Skipper (Nastra lherminier), and the observation got a fave. I tried to focus on graminoids: perhaps my best showing was a Dichanthelium. Rush Skeletonweed (Chondrilla juncea) was a new non-native to me. I got a decent audio recording of Wood Thrush (Hylocichla musterlina).
And there’s always something interesting at the lights after dark. Red-bordered Emerald (Nemoria lixaria) was perhaps the fanciest moth of the night.
